I’ve mentioned before how I often feel there is one word that will spring to mind no matter where you look or what you read. Today and yesterday, it has been the word, ‘surrender’.
What does surrender mean to you? Is it weakness or strength? With all language it is important to understand how you filter the word, what is your conditioning around it? To me surrender used to mean – giving up, giving in and giving my power away to someone else. Now, to me, surrendering simply implies giving into your strength by allowing the world to reveal its true self to the real you.
The real you? Unconditioned – free – alive and wildly awake. A person who is determined to set themselves free from the illusions which surround them and suffocate their soul.
Without using too much romantic language to express a point, ultimately, surrendering is giving into who you are and letting go of fear.
I love to see how the meaning of a word can change over years. Who is to say this interpretation, through Natalie’s filters and conditioning, will also not change and shift to mean something else?
Henry Miller’s quote is so beautiful in illustrating the very point that to surrender yourself to the great capacity and heart of the world, is freedom.
