I read through this book exactly as she suggests not to! Shakti explains that this book needs to be read slowly. I read it quickly because it’s an easy read but each page requires action from the reader. Therefore this book is a big TAKE ACTION book not a lets skim through this and see what I learn. Shakti needs the reader to delve into the depths of their imagination, mind and thoughts. She has wonderful wise words through out the book designed to ignite a passion within her readers.
Personally, for me this book was an awakening to the possibilities that lie within the art of visualisation but also the power that lies within me. As it’s all about becoming aware of ones limiting beliefs and taking action to eliminate them or unblock them, this can be hard to do on your own. By all means if you are the type of person to read a book and allow it to be a guide as if it were a real person, then this book is wonderful. I am the type of person to try one or two exercises and then give up…
“Creative visualization can be an affective tool for healing because it goes straight to one source of the problem – your own mental concepts and images.”
– Shakti Gawain, page 79 of Creative Visualization
I put this quote in here because it sums up the purpose of the book; to uncover the hidden depths that exist to yourself and allow yourself to find inner freedom through this awareness. I also like that this book is not about promoting materialistic gain or about money. So many of them are…This book is more heartfelt, honest and a guide book for the person seeking told to assist them in discovering a life they love.
I recommend reading this book SLOWLY and following the suggested exercises. There is also a Creative Visualization Workbook which can be bought if you wish to have more guidelines and a personal way of following her book. I think the work book is a very good idea and I read through it to see it’s filled with simple and guided ways of delving into ways of thinking in order to help you untangle the knots in your way of being. The book is also great for any one who likes to be creative and engage in techniques designed to open up the many countless possibilities that are available to us in this life as who we are…We just don’t know it!
To sum up this book is fabulous for an introduction to using the art of visualisation to not only begin living according to our hearts desires but also dare to get to know ourselves. It’s stressed numerous times in the book that trying to clear ourselves, become aware of our limiting beliefs and take on these emotions is an opening to new opportunities and to live from this moment into a future we love. So much occurs in our daily lives blocking any form of creation either through negative thinking, beliefs, attitudes, emotions, habits, that we forget who we are and who we are capable of being.
I also recommend either reading this with a friend to keep you motivated or record the exercises Shakti suggests so you can take part in them properly and relax without having to keep reading the page. Another way is to contact me and let me know how you get along as sharing your experiences is often a good way of celebrating your progress and courage to make a difference to your life and who you are.
I’m still working on this book because some powerful blocks, limiting beliefs and attitudes have come to the surface. They are so imbedded in my way of thinking that I barely see my future. Now I’m daring to see my future, feel it, be it, live it.
Read this book, and try practicing it’s contents so you can open up a whole new way of approaching a way of living that’s been around for centuries but is only now being translated to us all.
