“Rather than converting people from one organised religion to another organised religion, we should try to convert people from misery to happiness, from bondage to liberation and from cruelty to compassion.”
– S N Goenka from the Millennium World Peace Summit at the United Nations Headquarters, New York
This quote by S. N. Goenka, a householder teacher of Vipassana Meditation, fills me with inspiration to continue this blog, to continue discovering the true essence of being human and to eventually holding a light for others to release themselves from the shackles of misery. He is an inspiration to the human race and a pioneer in how the future of the human race is already now beginning to take a turn for the better. By this I mean, Vipassana is just was in which people are opening up doors to their inner being, to their possibilities and the endless magic that lies in each of us. Misery dissolves the more aware we become.
My mother just completed the Vipassana Meditation course and found it the most challenging, enlightening and wondrous experience. I don’t recognise her yet she seems more herself than ever. What I also love is how 3 of us in my family have now completed the course yet each of us has experienced something very individual and personal. It’s evidence that we all can experience the depths of our hearts from within, with some efforts but also you, me, us – we can do it through ourselves and without trying to live through societies eyes to obtain the happiness we seek.
Never stop believing in yourself and as someone told me yesterday, we each hold a map in our hearts…The map reveals itself as we keep walking along our paths in life, opening new doors, experiencing being alive and eventually pass into death. A map in the heart makes me feel grounded, excited and inspired to keep listening and looking in-between our man-made thinking and reveal the connection to the art of living and I.
